The Energy & Geoscience Institute known as EGI is entering its 4th Decade as the premier non-for-profit geoscience institute. EGI is the largest university based, cost shared, upstream E&P research consortia of its kind in the world. The Corporate Associate Program includes over 65 member companies from 18 countries. We have worked in 67 countries, have produced more than 700 applied technology reports and delivered over $550 Million dollars of geoscience research solutions. EGI’s three core areas of research are Hydrocarbons, Geothermal, and Carbon Engineering.

About the Director: Dr. Raymond Levey is Director of the Energy & Geoscience Institute. He received a B.S. in Geology from College at Fredonia, part of the State University of New York, in 1974, an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina in 1978 and 1981. He was appointed as the Energy & Geoscience Institute's second Director in 1999. Dr. Levey came to the University of Utah in 1997 from the Bureau of Economic Geology at the University of Texas at Austin where he was the Associate Director. Before joining UT he held various positions in three subsidiaries of Shell Oil Corporation in both research and operations. Dr. Levey also worked for the United States Geological Survey and Union Pacific Resources Corporation. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and Geological Society of America (GSA). He is a member of the AAPG Research Committee. |
